Dynamics Lab - Molecular Beam Scattering Lab
Molecular beam scattering:
- 4-chamber supersonic molecular beam scattering system
- Double pass CMA AES / XPS, Auger electron spectroscopy / X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (our XPS is not a user facility, sorry, please contact NDSU research park II, they do have a new XPS with interlock system / sample transfer)
- Sputter gun - for sample cleaning
- Several mass spectrometers - for molecular beam measurements (with cross-beam analyzer, m/e = 100) and Thermal Desorption Spectroscopy (m/e = 300)
- Metal evaporators incl. electron beam metal evaporator
- Commercial atomic hydrogen doser
- Beam chopper for time-of-flight spectroscopy
- Lock-in etc.
- Power supplies, etc. for Thermal Desorption Spectroscopy and sample preparation
- Liquid nitrogen / helium cooling system
- Leak valves etc.
- Computer controlled system
- Interlock system: automatic valves etc. to secure the vacuum/system in case of power failures, vacuum failures, cooling water failures and user mailfunctions (using ion getter on battery backup/UPS)
